Okinawa Cat Cafes with Kids: Moff vs Nekomaru (2026)

Okinawa’s heat, typhoon days and sudden rain showers can wreck a beach plan, and a cat cafe is one of the easiest indoor backups to say yes to with kids. In Naha and nearby Tomigusuku there are three we can verify on official sites: two Moff branches and the independent Nekomaru Chaya.

This guide compares them side by side so you can pick one in a minute: prices, hours, child rules, strollers and which one fits your day. Everything below comes from each cafe’s own website as of October 2026.

Which Okinawa Cat Cafe Should You Pick? (Quick Answer)

For Okinawa cat cafes with kids, choose Moff Kokusai-dori for a rainy afternoon in central Naha, Moff Toyosaki if you have a car and want the lowest rate and the most cats, or Nekomaru Chaya for an independent local cafe in Makishi. Children under 3 enter Moff free, and neither Moff shop takes reservations.

Moff Kokusai-dori: Best for a Rainy Afternoon in Central Naha

This is the one to choose if you are already walking Kokusai-dori and the weather turns. It is a 7-minute walk from Kencho-mae Station and a 10-minute walk from the Naha Bus Terminal, and there is no parking, so it works best for families without a rental car or those who parked elsewhere in Naha.

  • Hours: 11:00-20:00 (last admission 19:30); closed days follow JMF Building Okinawa Kokusai-dori 01
  • Price: ¥900 per 30 min, then ¥250 per 10 min (daily cap ¥2,100 weekdays / ¥3,100 weekends and holidays); mandatory all-you-can-drink fee ¥380; under 3 free; check the official site
  • Address: 沖縄県那覇市久茂地3丁目29番2号 JMFビル沖縄国際通り01 3F
  • Good to know: about 20 cats are listed on the official page, no reservation is needed, and strollers are allowed inside.

The ¥380 drink charge here is a mandatory all-you-can-drink fee, not a single cup, so a longer stay gets better value. The price caps are ¥2,100 on weekdays and ¥3,100 on weekends and holidays.

If you are building a full day around the city, our Naha family city guide shows what else sits within a short walk or monorail ride.

Moff iias Okinawa Toyosaki: Best With a Rental Car

The Toyosaki branch sits on the 2nd floor of the iias Okinawa Toyosaki mall in Tomigusuku, so you can park at the mall (check the iias website for parking details) and combine the cats with lunch or shopping. It opens an hour earlier than Kokusai-dori and has the lower base rate, which makes it the cheaper pick for a family of four.

  • Hours: 10:00-20:00 (last admission 19:30); closed days follow iias Okinawa Toyosaki
  • Price: ¥700 per 30 min (one drink order required), then ¥250 per 10 min (daily cap ¥1,900 weekdays / ¥2,900 weekends and holidays); under 3 free; check the official site
  • Address: 沖縄県豊見城市豊崎3-35 イーアス沖縄豊崎2F
  • Good to know: more than 30 cats are listed, one drink order is required, no reservation is needed, and strollers are allowed inside.

Price caps are ¥1,900 on weekdays and ¥2,900 on weekends and holidays. Closed days follow the mall, not the cafe, so check the iias calendar for holiday closures.

Nekomaru Chaya: The Independent Option in Makishi

Nekomaru Chaya is an independent cafe on the 5th floor of a building in the Makishi area of Naha. Its printed house rules are a good briefing for children before any cat cafe visit.

  • Hours: Weekdays 11:30-18:00, weekends and holidays 11:30-19:00; last entry 1 hour before closing; irregular closures
  • Price: Weekdays: ¥750 / 30 min, ¥900 / 45 min, ¥1,200 / 60 min, ¥1,450 / 75 min, ¥1,750 / 90 min; weekends and holidays: ¥850 / 30 min, ¥1,000 / 45 min (60 min and over same as weekdays); day pack and all-day pack available; pay after your visit; check the official site
  • Address: 沖縄県那覇市牧志2-3-22 高良産業ビル5階
  • Good to know: payment is after your visit, socks are required, hands are washed and disinfected before entering, and counter seats need one order per person.

Time rates move in 15-minute steps and switch automatically to the next plan. Past 1.5 hours the day pack applies, up to 4 hours, and past 4 hours it becomes the all-day free pack. Lower elementary school children cannot use the cafe on their own, but an accompanying adult is fine. The official site does not state a stroller policy, so call ahead or fold a compact stroller. The cafe’s website also has a foster-parent (adoption) page for its cats.

House Rules to Teach Your Kids Before You Go

Nekomaru Chaya’s posted rules cover what every cat cafe expects, so use them as a script in the lift:

  • Turn the camera flash off.
  • Do not give the cats any human food or drink.
  • Some cats dislike being held, so ask a staff member before picking one up.
  • No loud voices, running or chasing.
  • If someone is scratched, only first aid is provided, so keep little hands gentle.

Also wear socks, since barefoot entry is not allowed at Nekomaru Chaya. If anyone in your family has a cat allergy, choose another indoor option from our Okinawa indoor activities guide.

How Much Will a Family Pay?

Both Moff pages list one base rate and free entry under 3, with no separate child rate. So budget the same rate for older children, and remember the accompanying adult pays admission too.

  • Moff Toyosaki, 30 minutes, 2 adults and a 6-year-old: about ¥2,100 in admission (3 x ¥700), plus drink orders.
  • Moff Kokusai-dori, 30 minutes, same family: about ¥2,700 (3 x ¥900), plus the mandatory ¥380 drink fee per person.
  • Nekomaru Chaya, 60 minutes: ¥1,200 per person on weekdays and weekends alike.

These are our own sums from the official price lists, so treat them as estimates and check the current rates when you arrive.
